New Year's Eve-Same Ol' Same Ol'

Scott had practice today as usual and I did have a dental appointment for a cleaning for Austin this morning at 10:30, but canceled it yesterday because I had no desire to drag 3 kids to the dentist.  So instead, Jess and her kids, Cameryn and Ty, came over.  They got here about 10 and stayed until about 1 and we had a lot of fun.  Honestly, getting Austin and Ty together has always been smooth.  For some reason, they NEVER fight and play well together the whole time.  Ty is really laid back and I think they just balance out well.  Jess and I talked and talked and never got interrupted.  It was shocking!  Austin didn't even want to eat lunch!  Cody was so happy just to follow them around, even though Austin did his best to get his little brother to go away.  Tyler was a happy guy too because all Cameryn (she's 9) wanted to do was hold him or sit on the floor with him and help him play with his toys!  The plan for today was for Trisha to come and hang out with us because Ryan had to go out of town.  We had also planned to put the kids in their pjs, and walk across the street to eat dinner and hang out with Jeremy, Amy, Jeff and Julie.  But, Scott called at 3 and said that he had shoot around from 3:30-4:30, then needed to watch his high school recruits until 9.  I was pretty bummed about that.  I had fought with Austin for 2 hours and FINALLY got him to take a nap, just so he would be able to stay up a little later to play with all the kiddos across the street, only to find out that it wasn't going to happen.  Scott decided to come home after shoot around for a minute and pick Austin up to take him to the gym with him.  This was the first time that Austin was going to get to go recruiting with Scott.  He was pretty excited.  According to Scott, Austin behaved really well, and had a blast hanging out with the other coaches.  He even sent me pictures on the phone that showed Austin chillin' in the bleachers with Reggie.  They got home around 9, and Scott gave him a bath and put him straight to bed.  Since we were stuck at home, Scott went across the street while I stayed here, and then Amy and Julie came over to hang out with me and Trisha, so it turned out great.  We had some nice girl talk and just hung out.  I happened to make it to midnight this year but went to bed as soon as that was over.  Scott and I haven't gone out since having Austin, and will probably never go out on New Year's Eve because we don't want some drunk idiot hitting us...our priorities have changed and therefore, we stay home.  It works out just great because we have awesome friends that just happen to live across the street.

Now that's much better.

Newly organized toy room...whew...

Austin was a little under the weather yesterday and asked to paint with the supplies Amy & Jeremy got him for his birthday.  He actually spent a good 15 minutes painting a 'Transformer' and 'someping else'.

Tyler only likes one of the two sippy cups he has, so I went to the store to get another one and they were out.  So, I got this one...glad he approved!

A Little Here, A Little There...

Last night was another late night with Scott's game being at North Texas in Denton, but we WON and it was a BADLY NEEDED win.  The guys have been on a 10-game road trip (losing a few) and this was the closest they have been to home since November.  It was nice to go to a game again.  The past couple of days have been spent chillin' at home.  The boys have been playing with toys and I have continued to clean up and put the house back in order.  All 3 boys are still a little congested, but seem to be doing fine.  Scott has been in and out between practicing, weights, film, etc. and the boys have had fun building stuff with him while he's been at home.  This morning, all 3 boys watched film with Scott, although Austin refused to let me take a picture of him.

Ages Fixed on the Banner

I was going to do a new banner with pictures of us, but I post so many on the blog that I didn't feel like I needed a picture banner and decided to stick with the jerseys again.  I like the jerseys, and I only have to update them when someone has a birthday.  Scott is December 3, Austin is December 14, mine is December 27, and next up, Cody April 9 then Tyler May 16.  Glad we had those two in another month besides December!  This month is already too much for me to handle!  As of this year, my jersey number is what I wore when I played basketball.  I picked #32 in honor of the Spur's Sean Elliott...#33 for Larry Bird, my favorite player of all time, was never available because we didn't have odd numbered jerseys (I think that was the reason).

My cool gifts from Scott

Normally Scott and I don't do Christmas for each other.  We really don't need anything, and he is way too hard to shop for, so we just agreed a long time ago NOT to give each other gifts.  Last year, we did for the first time in years, and it was too stressful for me, so we won't be doing it again.  This year though, he surprised me with a gift because he said he saw it while shopping for my birthday gift and just had to get it for me.  For Christmas, he got me the coolest weather thingy.  Everyone who knows me can say that I am in love with the weather.  I will look at the forecast and temperature like 20 times a day, and always know what is coming.  I can watch the Weather Channel for an hour, and my dad and I can talk about the weather for at least 15 minutes.  Scott got me this little gadget that is now hanging in my kitchen.  It picks up a satellite signal and is constantly updating itself.  It has the current temp, what it 'feels like' according to the heat index/chill factor, and the 5-day forecast.  It ROCKS.

For my birthday, he got me another winner.  Everyone knows I LOVE A LIST.  This thing is called the "Smart Shopper" and you say what you need, and it enters it in.  When you are done with your shopping and errand list, it prints it out and has it categorized so that all your items will be in the same area in the store.  It also ROCKS and I already used it yesterday.  It is magnetized and is on the fridge.

I forgot

Reading Ang's blog today made me remember something Austin said while getting tucked in Christmas night.  During all the Christmas hoopla, Scott and I tried to keep reminding Austin about the true meaning of Christmas.  We explained to him that it was Jesus's birthday.  As I was tucking him in, he was crying about his nightlite, and how he was sad that Frisbee was gone, and I asked him if he remembered what Christmas was really about.  He said Jesus's birthday, and I said yes and that it was over now so maybe we should sing happy birthday to Jesus one more time before going to sleep.  So we sang it, and this seemed to really cheer him up.  When we were done, his eyes lit up and he said, "Are we going to get to have a Jesus party with a cake now?!?!"  I had to laugh.  I really believe that Christmas is about 2 things only: Jesus and children.  That's it.  I could care less about all the presents for the adults, and I think it gets way out of hand.  Seeing the magic of Christmas through my kids was really great.  This was the first year that Austin really got it, and boy was it fun. 

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!!!!!!

Happy birthday to ME today!  Wait.  Should I be happy that I am one year older therefore making me 32?  Hell, I don't care.  Like Jess said in my birthday card: birthdays stink because we are one year older, but they are a great excuse to get a babysitter and get out of the house!  HA!  My parents arrived this morning and I was so happy to see them.  My mom and Austin made me a cake, Scott had practice basically all day, and Austin and I ran to Target and got the car washed this afternoon.  Ok so now to my party...it was supposed to be a surprise, but I kinda found out about it here and there.  Scott and Jinni organized the whole thing.  The thing is, it really DID turn out to be a surprise afterall, because it wasn't what I was expecting!  So, YAY!  Here's the deal.  December 27th was the day that the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) was having basically it's biggest pay-per-view fight ever.  Scott and I are pretty into this and watch the reality series, as well as all the big fights.  My guy, Forrest Griffin, was fighting tonight, as well as 2 other big fights with guys we really like.  We had been waiting for this fight for months.  Amy and Jeremy came over to ride with us to Humperdinks.  When we got there I thought it was just going to be us 4 for a little while, then people would start coming.  And I thought it was only going to be about 8-10 of our other friends.  Well, we walked to the back room with all the TVs and once we turned the corner there was all this noise and horns and SURPRISE!  There was a LONG table of MANY of my friends and I WAS surprised (it actually kind of scared me and I jumped a little).  We had the best time and about 10 more people showed up.  It ended up being a huge party and lots of fun.  The only HORRIBLE thing about the night was that my beloved Forrest lost.  I was really depressed about it.  It just made me sick because I hate Rashad Evans (his opponent).  UGH!!!!  I'm still sick about it.  BUT, I had the best time and was so so so happy to see all my friends.  We had food, drinks, and a kick ass cake that Scott got custom made.  He was mad because it said "Ultimate Fighting Club" instead of "Ultimate Fighting Championship" but I could care less and was so happy that my husband and Jinni took the time to plan this out.  It was really thoughtful.  I am blessed to be surrounded by so many cool, awesome friends.  It was the best birthday.  Here comes LOTS of pictures...

Christmas PURGE

This morning I woke up and thought to myself that I was done with Christmas and just wanted to get things put away.  So I started cleaning and putting things away...and never stopped.  Not until 11pm tonight.  Scott got home around 2pm and took one look at things and said, "Geez.  Guess I better put my shorts on."  He followed suit and headed outside and up in the attic.  It took all day, but we got everything put away and cleaned up.  I feel much better now.  After everything was put away, I started cleaning.  I vacuumed, dusted, rearranged, and cleaned both bathrooms.  The only thing we didn't get around to doing was going through and organizing and putting away toys.  The boys got WAY TOO MUCH and we will NOT be putting all of it out for them to play with.  Half will be out, and half will get put away for a swap around 2 months from now. Scott had practice from 8-10:30 so he gave Austin and Cody a bath and left shortly before the boys went to bed.  They were all exhausted and Austin had a lsight meltdown about his new nightlight before finally crashing.  I stayed up and did laundry and cleaned some more.  Scott got home around 11 and we went to bed.  At midnight Tyler woke up and was up off and on until 2am.  Anyway, here is a picture of all the toys that I just literally threw in the toy room before going to bed...it's embarrassing, and will be CUT IN HALF shortly.  Ridiculous.  It looks like Toysrus threw up in this room...

Christmas Day

I woke up to Austin about 2 inches from my face morning saying, "Mommy.  Mommy.  Did Santa come?"  I had put a gate up in the hallway so he couldn't get in the living room...you never know what that little guy is gonna do...I have to always be prepared.  Anyway, there was no snuggling in bed on this morning, oh no.  Scott and I were instructed to 'please get up'.  We got out of bed and I kept the gate up and got on the other side to I could film and take pictures of their reaction...they were so stinkin' cute standing there in their pjs.  Frisbee had forgotten to jump in Santa's sleigh to catch a ride home, so he stuck around to watch the boys open up their presents (then I think he probably hitchhiked home because he was gone when we got back later).  Anyway, the boys screamed and were so excited to see their presents, and also excited to see that Santa had eaten most of the cookies and drank most of the hot chocolate.  Tyler slept through the whole thing and Austin and Cody had a blast opening their presents.  I didn't know how Cody would do since he hadn't opened presents since his first birthday in April, but he watched and copied his big brother and opened all of his presents on his own, making sure to get every piece of paper off before thoroughly examining the gift.  The big present was a little play kitchen and they were so excited.  Santa also brought them Buzz Lightyear guns, a Nerf sponge gun with a target that hangs on the wall, a safari truck track, a Lightning McQueen nightlite and flashlight book, The Discovery Channel's "Planet Earth" dvd set, a cardboard brick building set, and a few other small gifts.  The boys were so happy and played with their toys for a while before we had to get ready to go to Scott's parent's house for the day.  We got to Scott's parent's around 11:00 or so, and had our Christmas celebration with his side of the family there.  We got back home about 8pm.  Austin was very upset about Frisbee being gone, but I explained that he will be back after Thanksgiving next year.
