It ain't a party unless...

...you are 34-years-old today and you line your kids up for popper-sponge-ball-gun target practice.  Yep.  That's what we did.  And it was hilarious. And we weren't the only ones who cracked up.  Austin and Cody laughed hard too.  I'll get to more of that in a minute though.  Scott took Austin to school today and I stayed home because the air/heat guy was coming.  Basically the problem is that the duct that goes from the main box to Tyler's room, also branches off into our laundry room.  The laundry room is closer to the box than Tyler's room, so it's a double whammy.  The only thing the guy could do was close off the vent to the laundry room (I could care less if there is airflow to there anyway).  If that does not work, then we are going to have to spend several hundred dollars on getting them to make it to where there is only one duct that goes to Tyler's room (just like all the other rooms now).  We don't think we will have to though.  And we will find out pretty quick because tonight is supposed to get COLD.  Anyway, we picked up Austin from school today and headed straight to the mall.  I wanted Austin to be able to pick out a gift for his daddy, so we went to Dick's Sporting Goods.  Although I know Austin picked gifts that he wanted, he was really excited for Scott to open them too.  He picked out 5 things, and then I made him narrow it down to 2.  It was pretty funny.  Cody even had some input on one of the gifts!  After we got home from the mall I fed Tyler and put him down for a nap and then Austin and I made a cake for Scott.  Cody got to watch, and Austin went TO TOWN with the sprinkles.  I bathed the kids and put everyone in pjs, and when Scott got home we got in the car and went to our favorite 'hot dog hut' that we go to for Scott's birthday every year, and then drove around for about 20 minutes looking at Christmas lights.  Austin kept saying that he didn't want to look at lights, and that we  needed to get home for the party.  He also informed us that cake would make him feel so much better (he wasn't feeling bad in the first place). So we headed home, sang and did the cake, and then Scott opened his gifts...just what a 34-year-old guy wants!  We got him a rapid-fire power popper gun that shoots little, almost weightless, sponge balls, and a lopsided ball that is good for hand-eye coordination...we actually used to train with one in college.  That was the one that Cody liked, I guess because it's a funny looking ball.  Anyway, Scott was HYPED and riped the gun open immediately.  Both boys were going nuts and were so excited--it was just another big reminder that I live with boys--a lot of them.  The highlight of the night was Austin and Cody lining up and asking Scott to shoot at them...SEVERAL times.  We laughed SO HARD.  When the balls ran out, both boys would go scurrying around like crazy gathering them up for another round.  After at least 20 minutes of this, I made Scott stop for bedtime.  Meltdowns ensued..particularly from Cody.

Sounds like a terrifically awesome day and birthday for Scott! Those gifts are AWESOME! I want one of those guns and I need to borrow 2 boys for targets :) Well, Kaelyn would LOVE to be the target and her laugh is adorable. Love this post, love th cake and love the story! Great job Jen and boys for making this a memorable birthday for everyone to share :)

After watching the video, that's become a Christmas present idea for Todd!!! Thanks Jen!!!

Cute pictures! You do live with a lot of boys! If we lived closer you could borrow my drama queen for a day and get your fill of girl drama. I love her dearly, but she's full of it some days. Morgan and Austin sound so much a like it's scary. Now that I have Brady, I feel like I could have 10 boys... oh wait, I don't like being pregnant! I'm getting an IUD next Thrusday! Have a good weekend!

What a sweet video! The boys are precious!!! Happy Birthday Scott!

I'm going to get one of those guns tomorrow for Marte for Christmas from the boys! LOVE! IT!

The cake was awesome too Jen - look at your creative side! I'm proud of you. :)

How fun! You do have a house full of boys. Looks like everyone had a good time.
